What a Time to be from Boston!?

I was rooting for the Rocks, but that was just silly. So much for another 80+ year drought. The worst part of the Red Sox winning is all the new Red Sox fans! Don’t think that buying a worn-in hat is gonna fool anyone! Here’s an example of why I don’t want more of them:
At an Angels game. Playing the Red Sox. Somewhere in the 6th inning all the Red Sox fans start chanting, “Yankees Suck! Yankees Suck!”
WHAT?! What does this game having anything to do with the Yankees!? Get the freakin’ chip off your shoulder!
Maybe that will be one positive about the Sox winning again…the Sox can get over their inferiority complex to the Yanks.
But man! What a time to be a Bostonian!? The Sox are champs. The Pats are being talked about being the “best offensive team ever,” not to mention that defense! (Looking forward the Super Bowl XLI and 1/2 this Sunday) And then the Celts get Ray Allen AND Kevin Garnett! Too bad the Bruins aren’t going to do anything.
It takes me back to when the Lakers were in the middle of their three-peat, the Angels had just won the World Series, and the Ducks were streaking all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Ahhh, good times!
Chick Rock that Rocks!

So it’s 3:30am and I’m up because I’m feeling like crap. I was flipping through the channels, trying to avoid the “paid programming” if you know what I mean, and I see: Paramore Live on MTV. I’ve been hearing their song Misery Business on the radio for a while now and really dig it. That girl has a great voice!
And how long as it been since a band with a chick singer has actually rocked? Everyone’s guilty pleasure, Kelly Clarkson? Maybe one song. Evanescence? Yeah, but that’s more opera meets metal. I’m talking like Joan Jett chick rock. Pink? Please! It’d say the last was Gwen. She put on some pretty good shows back in the early No Doubt days.
What was cool too was this lead singer, Hayley Williams, wasn’t all skanky! Just up there having fun. She has this great edge to her voice without sounding like a whiny girl. The band wore matching black and red, which I think is awesome…a little like The Hives. I love bands with great stage presence. For me, jumps and kicks and headbobs are all part of conveying the energy to the crowd.
Take a few minutes and watch the video. I think I’m going to have to buy the album or go see them live or something! Here’s to hoping they don’t get MTVified!
Go Rockies!

We got swept! Stupid! Ridiculous!
Why didn’t we play for home field advantage? We had best record and let it slip away.
Momentum is way more important than resting players and setting rotation. Look at the Rockies! They rattled off 11 wins in a row and won something like 14 of 15 to end the season, and now look at what they are doing to the Phillies! Beth’s family is from Colorado so…
Go ROCKIES!
We Evened the Odds!

2-to-2!
Two girls (Beth & Kimberly) and now two boys! That’s right Jeremy Michael Miller is on his way! He’s due late February, maybe early March.
We found our we were pregnant a little while ago and have been waiting to find out since. I honestly would have been happy either way. If it was a girl it would have been fun for Kimberly to have a sister right close to her. And if it was a boy (as it is) then, hey! We have a boy!
I am so excited though. Our neighbor said to us, “If anyone needs a boy, it’s Ryan.” I guess I’m just a big kid! I can’t wait to play catch, to go to his first baseball game, and all that male-bonding stuff!
I hope it doesn’t seem like I’m going to have favorites because I love Kimberly! I can’t even put it into words! She’s my baby! I think she is going to be a great big sister.
Kids are awesome! If you don’t have any, you should make some. (Yeah, yeah! At the right time, right place, with the right person, yadda yadda. I know!)
Kimberly Performing

As promised, here is a video clip of my little girl! She has grown up so much in the last two or three days! She is so smart, so curious, and so adventurous (which is good & bad). I love watching her figure things out. You can just see her mind working. And this kid already knows too much about electronics and how they work!
She really does have her own personality. I can see it in how her reaction has changed to when I come home from work. Obviously, for a long time she didn’t have any clue if I was there or if I was gone. But eventually, when I’d walk in the door she’d see me and brighten up with a smile. Then after she learned how to wave she started smiling and waving. Then after she learned how to walk, Beth would prompt her to come over to me and I’d pick her up and give her hugs. Next she started doing it on her own where she’d come over and reach up for me. That changed to her running up and hugging my legs. Now, she wants me to drop everything and give her hugs. If I come in and she doesn’t catch me at the door she’ll find me and basically give me a “Daddy! I want you to hug me!” I love it!
As for the video here, it is a clip of her doing a little performing for the camera. She does the actions to Etsy-Bitsy Spider and then, I told you she was smart…well, just watch!
Right Where We Want Them

I’ve decided that it’s a good thing that the Angels lost game one. Why?
If you look back, in the Scioscia-Era, in every playoff series we won, we lost game one.
In the two playoff series we lost, we actually won game one!
So if history prevails, we’re right on track! At least that’s how I’m viewing it. We’re going to beat the Red Sox, even if that have freakin’ Josh Beckett!
Game 1…

Freakin’ Josh Beckett!
Let the Playoffs Begin!!!

I’m sitting here watching the Padres playing the Rockies in their one-game playoff to see who get the NL Wild Card. It’s the bottom of the eleventh and they’re tied 6-6! That just shows you what kind of race its been to get to the playoffs. This season was full of drama!
A couple of my playoff hopes came through…
- The combined rise of the Phillies and the fall of the Mets…Go Phillies!
- The back and forth between the Cubs and Brewers…Go Cubs!
A couple of hopes that were dashed…
- The Yankees charging all the way back from last place to make the playoffs, but since there were going to make it…
- The Yankees not overtaking the Red Sox and the Mariners not staying close enough to take the AL Wild Card and thereby leaving the Sox out!
A couple of things I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted…
- The Wild, Wild NL West…the D-Backs, the Padres and the freakin’ Rockies?!
And then of course…
- The Mariners run to within 1 of first and their complete meltdown…
And then finally and most of all…
- Go Angels!
